Adv. Hassan S. Herith – Board Member

Adv. Hassan S. Herith is a distinguished legal professional with over 15 years of experience spanning academia, legal consultancy, institutional governance, and board secretariat roles. He has been a registered Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, Notary Public, and Commissioner for Oaths since 2011 and was elevated to the position of Senior State Attorney in 2021.

He currently serves as the Head of Legal Services and Company Secretary of the Co-operative Bank Tanzania. Adv. Herith has served as Head of Legal Services Unit and Corporate Secretary to key governing bodies at the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU), including the Council, Senate, and Audit Committee. His areas of expertise include legal drafting, corporate governance, policy formulation, and dispute resolution. He has also provided legal consultancy to various cooperative societies as Kilimanjaro Co-operative Bank Limited, The Savings and Credit Cooperative Union League of Tanzania (SCCULT) and Wazalendo SACCOS Limited, where he also serves as a board member.

Adv. Herith holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College. He is an active member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East Africa Law Society. His contributions extend to national-level technical committees, including participation in the establishment of the Co-operative Bank Tanzania. He has also undergone executive leadership training at the Uongozi Institute.

His career is defined by a deep commitment to cooperative sector development, legal integrity, and public service.
