About Coop Bank Tanzania

Coop Bank Tanzania is a modern, inclusive financial institution established through the historic merger of Kilimanjaro Cooperative Bank (KCBL) and Tandahimba Community Bank (TCBL) on May 26, 2024. The Bank was created with a bold vision to transform cooperative and community-based banking in Tanzania through innovation, technology, and deep-rooted commitment to social and economic development.

After obtaining a transitional license from the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) on July 23, 2024, Coop Bank officially commenced operations on October 1, 2024.

The official launch of Coop Bank Tanzania was presided over by Her Excellency, President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, on April 28, 2025, in Dodoma. This landmark event marked a new era for Tanzania’s cooperative movement—positioning Coop Bank as a key pillar for inclusive growth, rural transformation, and access to finance for millions of Tanzanians.
